Age Suitability and Responsible Use

Intended for adults
Disgustify is intended for adults 18 and older. It is not designed for children or teenagers. The app uses deliberately aversive food imagery, which can include unsettling or fear-adjacent visual cues such as spoiled food, insects, worms, or similar disgust-based transformations.
A serious self-help tool
Disgustify is meant to be used carefully as a private visual cue tool for everyday food cravings. It is not a game, a prank app, or a tool for shaming yourself or anyone else. The purpose is to create a pause before a craving-driven choice, not to make food feel frightening or unsafe.
When not to use Disgustify
Do not use Disgustify if food already feels frightening, compulsive, unsafe, or connected to an eating disorder. Do not use the app to punish yourself, avoid necessary nutrition, intensify fear around food, or damage your relationship with eating. If any of those concerns apply, a clinician, dietitian, therapist, or trusted local support service is a safer place to start.
Not medical care
Disgustify does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, nutritional, or eating-disorder care.
Parents and guardians
Because the app intentionally generates aversive food images, parents and guardians should not make Disgustify available to minors. The app is rated for adults to reduce the chance that younger users encounter a tool they may misunderstand or use in an unhealthy way.
Questions
If you have questions about whether Disgustify is appropriate for you, contact a qualified professional before using the app. For app support, use the support page.
